Omega Welcomes Faizah Ami to the LANL OIC Team
Ms. Faizah Ami was born and raised in Singapore by her parents who were teachers. In 1988, she left home to explore London, England. In 1990, she finished her HND at Oxford Polytechnic in Oxford, England. She then travelled to Germany. Ami learned German there, and still speaks it till this day. She continued traveling throughout Europe until 1995 when she came to the U.S.
In 1997, Ami was hired by Siemens Power. She credits her manager, Bryan Eskra, for her start as a journeyman Project Controls Specialist. “I owe Bryan for recognizing my potentials and pushing me in this direction,” said Ami.
In 2002, she began working on projects all over the country. “With the skills I had acquired working with Bryan for almost 5 years, I landed in Chicago, IL, then Atlanta, GA, then Dallas, TX, then back to Atlanta, then to Calvert, AL, then to San Luis Obispo, CA, then to Wilmington, NC, then to Edmonton, AB, then to Las Vegas, NV, then to Los Alamos, NM, then to Salt Lake City, UT, then to Keokuk, IA, then to Portland, OR, and now I am back again in Los Alamos, NM,” said Ami.
“That’s the journey I have taken in the last 20 years. I accomplished a bunch of certifications along the way in advanced P3 scheduling, in applied project management and I even achieved my PMP status! During this 20-year journey, I met Gigi in Atlanta and while we were in Edmonton, AB, we got married. My travels have gifted me with meeting amazing people along the way and experiencing different cultures, foods, and lifestyles. My life has been blessed with loving friends and a supportive wife who follows me on all the crazy projects I work on – be it on the beautiful Gulf Coast or freezing Edmonton, AB,” said Ami.
Her skillset now brings her to the Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) Operations Integration Center (OIC) on the Scheduling Interaction Operations team as a Master Scheduler.
“Now that I am older, I am looking forward to when I can retire and do yoga daily. I am a happy yogi having started yoga earlier this year to get myself back into shape. Yoga helps me find my footing and center my chi. I highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for balance and peace. I am also an avid sports fan and a retired athlete having done a decade of both kickboxing and boxing and field hockey throughout high school. I am hoping this project at LANL will take me to my career finish line. The folks at Omega are my kind of people – friendly, genuine, and kind. I think we will get along just fine and accomplish this grand project for LANL one more time. Be where you are. That’s my motto in life and it took me months to fully understand it but now I do,” said Ami.
We are pleased to welcome her to the Omega team as a Master Scheduler.
