Transparency – An Omega Value

One thing I had to get used to being part of Omega is the close relationship we have with our competitors. I can be competitive at times, and I love to win. But several of our competitors are also great partners. Always driving for an “I win – you lose” result doesn’t work in this business. I see now how leveraging good relationships with other companies leads to growing the business. But there are risks. Transparency can’t be about sharing all information all the time. The competitors we trust know there are limits to what can be shared. And, they’ve always respected that position. They seem to appreciate that while we hide our sensitive business information, we don’t have a hidden agenda.

I also believe that making business decisions based on our priorities is essential to transparency. While we don’t share the “sausage making”, we do share the priorities used to make decisions. There’s been a significant amount of change in Omega’s business systems over the last several months. And a lot of hard work went into both deciding on, then implementing these changes. Most will never see the deliberation of options, evaluating new vendors, or the ironing out our strategies for implementation. In the same way, there is sensitive information that would be inappropriate to share broadly across Omega. Rest assured that we continue to make decisions based on our priorities first for the nation, then employee, then client, and then company. It’s equally true that we can only meet our client’s needs with a strong company. Successful clients require talented professionals and each of you are required to meet the nation’s national security missions.
