In 1995, Omega Consultants, Inc. was created in Aiken, SC as a nuclear operations and engineering consulting firm. Our core competencies initially derived from our owner’s line management experience and expertise gained from operation of nuclear facilities at the Department of Energy’s Savannah River Site, including Operations, Management, Engineering, Government Regulatory Compliance, and Accredited Training Programs. As Omega evolved, we began to branch out into other areas of focus. Soon we realized that Omega Consultants was not a name that encompassed our complete list of core competencies.  Consequently, Omega Technical Services was coined to better reflect our programs and capabilities: Radiological and Non Radiological Laundry Services; Facility Operations; Professional Services; Defense Mission Support; Commissioning, Start Up Testing and Operational Readiness Services; Engineering and Environmental Services; and Microwave Metal Melt Technology Services.

Omega’s corporate office is located in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, with satellite offices located strategically throughout the U.S. Omega holds both a possessing and non-possessing Foreign Ownership, Control & Influence (FOCI) determination. We own and operate a 50,000 square foot classified facility and we retain DOE Q‑ and L‑cleared personnel on staff.

Omega has a proven record of accomplishment providing professional and technical services for various federal sites around the Department of Energy Nuclear Weapons Complex (DOE NWC), including Y-12, Portsmouth, SRS, Hanford, Rocky Flats, LANL, INL, ORNL, ETTP and others. Our personnel are instrumental in ensuring safe and compliant nuclear operations in many of the nation’s (and world’s) most unique, aged and dangerous facilities. We continue to function in subcontract line management roles as well as consult on daily operational issues.

Our personnel serve (or have served) as Operations Managers, Shift Managers, Shift Technical Advisors, Process, System and Design Engineers, Work Control Managers and Work Planners, Commissioning Managers and Startup Test Engineers, Safeguards and Security Specialists, Nuclear Material Control & Accountability Specialists, and Nuclear & Criticality Safety Engineers, to name a few. In addition to line management roles our personnel are called on to solve some of the DOE NWC’s most challenging operational issues. For example, we most recently assisted in solving technical issues with the Integrated Waste Treatment Unit (IWTU) at INL and are now engaged in supporting the startup of this unique, state-of-the-art nuclear waste processing facility.

As a result of our exemplary attention to customer service, Omega received the Small Woman-Owned Business of the Year Award from B&W Y-12, LLC for work performed at the Y-12 National Security Complex. Omega recently graduated from the nationally recognized Mentor-Protégé Program with B&W Y-12.

Omega has diversified its customer base into private sector hazardous facilities. We have provided operations support services to commercial nuclear facilities such as the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) and Luminant Power of Texas, and we have helped bring key nuclear concepts such as Formality of Operations into the chemical industry at problem facilities.
