Omega Welcomes Sterling Robertson to the Team
Mr. Sterling Robertson is a highly experienced engineering manager and programs management professional who recently joined Omega after a 41-year career at the DOE’s Savannah River Site. His experience includes assignments in SRNL, Tritium Production, Chemical Separations, High-Level Waste Management, and Nuclear Nonproliferation Programs with functional experience in Operations, Engineering, and Programs Management. Before his retirement from SRS, his most recent responsibilities were Program Manager for Surplus Plutonium Disposition, Chief Engineer for Plutonium and Uranium Chemical Separations, and Chief Engineer for Nuclear Nonproliferation Programs. The diversity of his experience across most aspects of nuclear weapons materials production, management, and disposition programs facilitates his ability to develop integrated solutions to complex problems by leveraging the unique capabilities of each functional area. He finds that developing solutions to these problems is like a puzzle – made even more challenging by the regulatory environment, the unique characteristics of working with radioactive materials, and the need to work within the capabilities of the aging facilities and competing priorities between agencies, federal and state governments, etc. Mr. Robertson has found that developing elegant solutions to these complex challenges is extremely rewarding intellectually.
Mr. Robertson grew up in a rural Maryland farming community and graduated from Johns Hopkins University with a Bachelor of Engineering Science degree in Mechanics and Materials Science Engineering. He moved to the Central Savannah River Area to pursue his career in the nuclear weapons industry immediately after college and currently lives in North Augusta in the home he designed and constructed in 1991. He and his wife of 34 years, Pam, have two adult children, Morgan and Sterling. Sterling and Pam enjoy spending time at their property in the North Georgia mountains where they hike with their dog, Gigi, kayak and where Sterling enjoys fly fishing when he’s not involved in some DIY project usually related to woodworking.
We are pleased to welcome him to the Omega team!
