Charitable Giving
Omega Technical Services has a long history of providing support to local organizations that support adults with disabilities. In the past few years, Omega has worked with the non-profit Gateway to Independence in Maryville, TN, whose mission is to help young adults with disabilities achieve independence by providing them with pre-vocational and social activities. This year, Omega has started working with The ARC Anderson County. The ARC is a non-profit agency that advocates for individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities (I/DD). They create and support programs which help empower participants to become fully functional members of the community. The ARC also assists families and individuals when they need help obtaining government and other social service resources.
Community Events
The Omega Technical Services corporate office is participating in a Knoxville community event on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at the Knoxville Zoo. The “Breakthrough T1D Walk” is to raise money for research of type-1 diabetes. T1D is an autoimmune disease that is diagnosed in both children and adults and has nothing to do with diet or lifestyle. Managing T1D requires constant attention and action—including overnight. Even with a strict regimen, people with T1D can still experience dangerously high or low blood sugar that can lead to complications and, in extreme cases, be life-threatening. If you’d like to contribute to this worthy cause, please go to the website below and donate.

MERCY FOR AIKEN PUTTING FOR THE PANTRY TOURNAMENT
The Storehouse of Mercy Food Pantry hosted its Second Annual Golf Tournament on September 16th with a goal to raise the funds needed to support the daily operations of the Storehouse of Mercy.
Storehouse of Mercy opened in August 2022 and currently services over 2,500 people per month who are experiencing hunger. They provide groceries, hygiene items, paper products and other items to help improve the health of a vulnerable population within our community.
We are proud to have team members like Avery Jones who passionately support those in need within our community.
“[The] golf tournament was once again a huge success in which a number of Omega employees participated as players or volunteers. Thanks again for Omega’s sponsorship.” – Avery Jones (pictured)

A Note from Bill Tindal
Precision Matters
Many of you know that my father was a submariner. Like many Navy families, we had times when my father would be thousands of miles away for months at a time. In the late ‘70’s I was in grade school and my mother would have my two brothers and me sit down and write dad a letter while he was on patrol. Remember this decade had never heard of email. For us, this was pen to paper. Fold it. And, put it in a paper envelope. I never thought about the logistics challenge of getting that folded paper to a submarine on patrol. While I did it, I never enjoyed writing those letters. I had to force myself to capture what I was doing. I would write about school, soccer, and what was happening at Boy Scouts. Like any boy that age, I wanted my father to be proud and favored the good news over the bad. At the end of the day, my brothers and I were doing the best we could. The priority was sending dad something that maintained our connection.
Thankfully, the logistics worked its magic in both directions. And we would occasionally get letters back from dad. I vividly remember a time when I received a letter. As I excitedly tore the seal, I could still smell the faint submarine odor of diesel fuel and lube oil captured by the paper (if you know, you know). What I found inside was a short note from dad attached to the most recent
letter I had sent him, returned to me. In red pen, there were corrections for spelling, grammar, and punctuation. My heart sank.
While at the time I was hurt, I’m now a father and a grandfather. I’m confident that it was a lesson as painful to send as it was to receive. His short note to me was that he loved me and wanted me to know that precision matters in everything we do. While he’s been gone for more than a decade now, I still feel his presence as I read, rewrite, and tweak this note to you. In our work lives we are known not only for what we do but how we do it. The standards we set for ourselves represent who we are. Dad was right, precision matters.
Employee Spotlight
This October, we proudly shine the Omega spotlight on Robert Westervett. Robert is currently serving as a Project Manager for Omega at the Savannah River Plutonium Processing Facility (SRPPF). Previously, he held the position of Subcontractor Technical Representative (STR) Group Manager for NNSA capital projects and served as a Project Manager for SRS Security Services. Before his tenure at SRS, Robert worked at the Portsmouth Gaseous Diffusion facilities as a Radiological Nondestructive Assay (NDA) Operator and Security Escort Supervisor.
Robert is a proud veteran, having served four years in the United States Marines, including combat duty in Afghanistan. Following his Honorable Discharge from his military career, he began his civilian career as a Youth Correctional Officer in Ohio.
Outside of work, Robert is an avid enthusiast of extreme sports. He enjoys rock-climbing, scuba diving, and snowboarding. While these hobbies are relaxing to Robert, they require quite a bit of concentration, skill, and practice. In addition to his extreme sports, he enjoys disc golf and pickleball. Robert’s sports resume is already brimming with impressive experiences, but none are quite as unique as his days as a professional arm wrestler.
Robert is known by his peers and managers to be an inspirational leader with an extremely strong work ethic. We are grateful to have such a well-rounded and extraordinary person on our team. Thank you for your service, Robert!
