LANL OIC Underway
Omega has had an opportunity to work on a special project for Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL). Recently, LANL and Omega leadership have met to discuss operation integration to make LANL an effective and efficient production facility for modernization efforts. After analyzing current operations, Omega has proposed LANL implement an Operations Integration Center (OIC). This notion has been accepted, and Omega is now tasked with its execution.
Bridging the DOE Nuclear Weapons Industry Age Gap
With the LANL OIC contract and opportunities in Greenville, SC, Omega has a historic opportunity to recruit entry-level talent into the nuclear weapons industry. Omega’s President, Tim Trapuzzano, states, “Our industry stopped modernizing when adversaries left the stage way back when. That means we stopped improving our products and facilities. But it also means we stopped training new talent.” Why is this a problem? “National security concerns are ever-growing, and we are left playing catch-up. Recruiting new talent and retaining critical knowledge in our industry is vital to keeping nuclear talent and our country alive,” says Trapuzzano. Omega’s Vice President of Technical Services, William Stephens, PMP, P.E. explains, “We are very excited to reach the next generation with these entry-level jobs. We have been attending university job fairs and connecting to engineering clubs to let them know of these great opportunities. Retaining critical knowledge throughout the nuclear weapons industry is what we do, and this is just the start.” Click below to learn more about one of Omega’s outreach efforts at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville’s Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers Club.
Lunch & Learn
The Omega Headquarters Team has started a professional development initiative! Monthly, an employee picks an industry-relevant book to read, becomes a Subject Matter Expert on the topic, and then informs the rest of the team on their learning over lunch. This month, Brandy Miracle (Business Administrations Manager), discussed how to plan thinking processes in a detailed and cohesive way to think as a group more efficiently.
