Mr. Giddings is a multi-skilled, results-oriented leader with 35+ years of proven success in Nuclear Facility Operations, Nuclear Facility Projects development and implementation, Research Facility management and Engineering leadership within the Department of Energy facilities at the Savannah River Site (SRS), Nevada Nuclear Security Site (NNSS) and Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL).
For SRS, Bill served as a Control Room Supervisor and Shift Manager in the Reactor Operations Department for the K, L and P Nuclear Production Reactors, then five years as Operation Manager and Facility Manager for the SRS Heavy Water (HW) production facility. He served for seven years as the SRS Site Deactivation and Decommissioning (SD&D) facility manager, overseeing various facilities in readiness for deactivation and decommissioning activities. As a project manager, he served as the Deputy Project Owner for all small/large projects in the SRS Tritium Enterprise areas. He also served as a Senior Project Manager for the H-Canyon SRS Accelerated Basin De-inventory (ABD) layup planning. Bill led as a Project Manager for the SRS H-Canyon Target Residue Material (TRM) project to return High Enriched Uranium from the Chalk River Laboratories facility in Canada to SRS as well. Lastly, he served as the Project Manager for SRS H-Canyon Operations to lead the effort for Exhaust Tunnel inspections and for restoration of Acid Recovery Unit (ARU) for H-canyons A-line operations.
To sum up his engineering experience, Bill served as a Senior Technical Support representative for Omega Technical Services at the Nevada Test Site (NNSS) with the U1a Facility Engineering group and with SRS as a Principal Engineer with Reactor Operations Division, Reactor Engineering Spent Fuel Storage group. His commercial experience was as a System Engineer at the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) Bellefonte Nuclear Facility. He looks forward to stepping into this new role.
